Margaret C. Martin, 54, is Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with MECA Commercial Real Estate a diversified full service commercial-investment real estate development, brokerage and property management firm with offices located in Belmont and Charlotte, NC.

After obtaining a BS in Accounting from Florida State University in 1983, Ms. Martin worked briefly with Bojangles Service Corporation in their general accounting department. In the Spring of 1984, Ms. Martin joined MECA, a growing real estate firm, as their Full Charge Bookkeeper. As the company has expanded, Ms. Martin has grown professionally with them as evidenced in the advancement of her position from Full Charge Bookkeeper, to Controller, to Treasurer, to Vice President of Administration and Finance to her current position as CFO.

Ms. Martin obtained her NC Real Estate Sales License in March 1987, Broker's License in October 1988, and has successfully completed four Commercial Investment Real Estate (CCIM) courses offered by the Realtors National Marketing Institute's Commercial-Investment Real Estate Council.

A member of the Institute of Management Accountants since 1984, Ms. Martin served on the local chapter board from 1985 to 1992 in various leadership roles, her most recent position being that of Vice President. She has also been an active member of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) since 1995 serving as the Charlotte Chapter president in 2003.

Ms. Martin was recognized as one of the Top 25 Women in Business by The Charlotte Business Journal in 2003. In addition, in 2010 Ms. Martin was a Finalist for The Charlotte Business Journal's CFO of the Year Awards. Also, The Mecklenburg Times awarded Ms. Martin one of the 50 Most Influential Women for 2014.

Ms. Martin has been active in community services such as the Central Charlotte Association, the Mint Museum, Spirit Square, F.S.U. Alumni Chapter of Charlotte, UNC-Charlotte Athletic Foundation, Leadership Charlotte and the Arts & Science Council. Ms. Martin is an Elder at Avondale Presbyterian Church. During her time as Ruling Elder she chaired the committee that was instrumental in establishing Avondale Presbyterian Church's Endowment Fund. She also served a three-year term as Treasurer of Avondale's Day Care Board. Most recently she served a three-year term on the board of Justice Initiatives, a non-profit organization committed to tirelessly advocating for increased funding to the judicial branch and for raising seed money needed for the continued development of innovative programs and services. Through the Women in Business Alumni Group, Ms. Martin served as a mentor to three young professionals and is currently serving as a Mentor under CREW Charlotte's Mentor Program. In addition, Ms. Martin is serving on the Community Impact committee with the Women's Impact Fund, which she has been a member of since 2013.
