Nikki Thornton

Nikki has served as MECA’s Controller since 2021, overseeing the company’s financial operations and office functions. She advises on key development projects and budgets,  providing valuable insights on economic projections. general accounting, payables, receivables, and HR processes. She holds a Masters in Accounting from Wingate University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Western Carolina University. Before joining MECA, Nikki specialized in business and personal taxes and tax planning at Elliott Davis and Stell CPA.

Actively involved in the community, Nikki currently serves on the Board for the American Cancer Society Making Strides of Greater Charlotte, where she is recognized as a Pacesetter with the Primax Pink Warriors. She has been a member of CREW Charlotte since 2015 and has served as a Board member, liaison for the Student Outreach and Communications committees, co-chaired the Community Outreach and Member Recognition Committees, and participated in the Technology Task Force and Sponsorship Committees. Nikki also volunteers with the American Cancer Society Young Professional Associate Board of Ambassadors, helping plan the annual Gala hosted in Charlotte.

Nikki’s industry recognition in 2024 includes Charlotte Business Journals’ CFO of the Year finalist in the Emerging Leader category and a GlobeStreet Woman of Influence Winner.  Additionally, she was honored as a 2023 Athena Young Professional Honoree, the 2023 CREW Charlotte Emerging Leader Award Winner, the 2022 Emerging Leader Award Winner by Career Mastered, and the 2022 Next Generation Award Winner by Connect CRE Atlanta & Southeast.

A native of Charlotte, Nikki enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and two huskies. In her spare time, she enjoys riding side-by-sides on the Hatfield and McCoy trails in West Virginia.
